D.C. to host surprise Live Earth show Final point awarded in Gore v. Inhofe |
Sarah van Schagen |

| Remember how Gore wanted to have the U.S. Live Earth concert in Washington, D.C., on the National Mall? And then Inhofe was all "it's partisan, you can't do it, neiner, neiner." And then Gore was all "fine, we'll have it at Giants Stadium in New Jersey." And then Inhofe was all "fine!" And then they both slammed their doors. Yeah, good times. Well, now, Gore's all "Ha, ha, sucka, we worked around your whole 'partisan' bullshit, ... |

| Bonnaroo 2006. Photo: Sarah van Schagen. I'm sitting in the middle of a field in rural Tennessee, and it feels like it's got to be 110 degrees out. Somehow I've forgotten about my sweat-lined brow and muddy shoes; instead, I'm focused on listening to Bonnaroo's head press guy, Ken Weinstein of Big Hassle Media, talk about the music festival's ongoing efforts to put on a greener ... |

Live Earth: How green are the concerts for a climate in crisis? Depends how you define green |
Sarah van Schagen |
02 Jul 2007 |
Gristmill |
| On 7/7/07, climate change awareness will officially rock, as a series of concerts kick off at venues as far afield as Shanghai, Sydney, and the South Pole. Chatter about the Live Earth concerts has been rampant for months as bits of gossip trickled in here and there. Though organizers still promise a few surprises, much of the mystery is gone at this point. But when it all goes down this weekend, one question is still weighing on a few minds: How green will thes ... |

The project promotes the use of solar energy and has installed solar photovoltaic systems in a couple of local schools. Part of the show will be st ... |

| Hey, L.A.-area folk -- if you're around this weekend, head to the Jazz Bakery in Culver City at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, to watch talented teenage jazz musicians In Black. (Here's their MySpace, with songs for your listening pleasure.) The Culver City stop is part of the group's climate-focused Solutions Tour, and you can chat with them next week when they participate in Grist's InterActivist column. Bonnaroo: Attention vegan girls! Comedian Dave Attell wants your number |

| Comedian Dave Attell wants your number. No, really! The star of Comedy Central's Insomniac was at Bonnaroo this year working the air-conditioned comic tent. At a press conference Sunday afternoon, Attell said he's really here for the hippie girls, and that he likes a vegan girl who can keep him up all night talking about recycling. That I can deal with ...The problem is that it's also in my eyes, my nose, my lungs. I came here perfectly healthy, and I'll be going home with itchy eyes, a stuffed up nose, a dry throat, congested lungs, and a not-so-sexy cough.
