Hybrid placement Prius makes an appearance in Last Kiss |

| So I've just returned home from a showing of Last Kiss, the new Zach Braff flick -- which, PS, pales next to Garden State -- and I'm excited to report that not only does Braff's character drive a Prius throughout the movie, but the car actually gets mentioned in the first two lines. As the film begins, the lens is focused knee-height at a number of women (with very nice legs) walking at a crosswalk. The camera then pans up very slowly to focus on the front of a bl ... |

Lights, Camera, Traction Al Gore and electric car star in films unveiled at Sundance |
Dan Bree |

Arts and Minds |
| At 25 years of age, Sundance is the country's premier festival of independent film. But a lot has changed over that quarter century. Well, actually, one thing has changed: m-o-n-e-y. There's a ton of Hollywood cash spent at Sundance, and I could see it everywhere I looked last week. The "VIP" corporate parties on Main Street. The piles of free stuff for celebrities. The Moviefon ... |

Luna and Electric Dreams Two new eco-movies on the way from Participant Productions |
Chris Schults |
22 Jan 2006 |

| Speaking of Participant Productions, I just discovered they have two more environmentally themed films in development: 1) Luna Luna is based on the true story of Julia Butterfly Hill, a drifter turned environmentalist who galvanized the movement in the early 90's to save the redwood trees in Northern California from deforestation.Julia Hill was a young woman without direction or purpose whose travels brought her to Northern California and the quiet majesty of the ... |

| Formerly known as EV Confidential, Who Killed the Electric Car?, currently in post-production, will be playing during the 2006 Sundance Film Festival (Jan. 19 - 29, Park City, Utah). A synopsis: Fashioned like a tongue-in-cheek murder mystery, Who Killed the Electric Car? sets out to uncover just who is responsible for the demise of this ill-fated vehicle. The spirited film runs through the prime suspects, including car companies, oil companies, the government, a ... |

Another Prius sighting They're everywhere! |
Chris Schults |
13 Jul 2005 |

| I can't go outside anymore in Seattle without seeing a Toyota Prius -- actually make that several. To escape the onslaught, I ducked into a movie theater this past weekend to watch War of the Worlds. Just as I was thinking it would be just me, Tom, Dakota and a few alien friends, Mr. Prius showed up on the big screen to remind me that he's watching me. Is there no escape!? |

Be Cool -- eventually
|
David Roberts |
12 Mar 2005 |
Gristmill |
| I saw Be Cool last night. It's the sequel to Get Shorty, and as you would expect, it's not nearly as good. But there are enough spirited, funny moments -- mainly involving bit characters played by The Rock and Andre 3000 -- to make it worth the price of admission. Barely. One of the running jokes in Get Shorty was that Chili Palmer (apparently the only character John Travolta plays well) got stuck with a minivan. After he becomes a successful movie producer ... |
