Planet Gore Disinfotainment Watch: Claiming climate mitigation must be regressive Conservative blog doesn't read studies it writes about |

| As discussed last week, Planet Gore's Sterling Burnett was upset with the media for supposedly ignoring 'the recent reports by MIT and the CBO [PDFs] detailing the substantial costs and regressive nature of the costs that are estimated to arise if any of the current domestic proposals restricting carbon emissions to combat global warming are enacted.' Given that the MIT report in fact concluded the exact opposite of what Sterling claimed -- and given the fact that th ... |

The denialist deck of cards A video you simply must see |

| Yikes. Everyone must watch this video, which comes to us from DeSmogBlog: And on a related note, this seems like a good time to link to The Denialists' Deck of Cards: An Illustrated Taxonomy of Rhetoric Used to Frustrate Consumer Protection Efforts. You will see that these perpetual, maddening arguments about global warming are not new. The techniques are the same and the goals are the same: protecting industry. All the more reason not to feed the trolls. And ... |

| A little while back, CNN recruited a right-wing talk radio host named Glenn Beck to host one of its prime-time shows. As MediaMatters rather exhaustively reveals, Beck is an unreconstructed racist, sexist, classist, misogynist, authoritarian, xenophobic troglodyte of the old school. He doesn't work particularly hard to conceal his trogloditicism. In fact, one suspects CNN views the trogloditicism as the draw. Beck's latest crusade is -- you guessed it -- global ... |

Monbiot replies to Cockburn's global warming denial Shot down |

| Alex Cockburn, who has long been a low-key denier of the human contribution to climate chaos, has decided to take his contrarianism on this issue loud and proud. Because Alex is a bit too prominent to simply ignore, George Monbiot takes a few minutes from his busy schedule to tear the piece into little tiny shreds. It takes Monbiot only a few sentences to point out that all the arguments Cockburn makes are well known and widely discredited, and that Alex uses zero refer ... |

Lindzen againzen Rebuttal ad nauseum |

| I'm not sure there's much value left in rebutting Dick Lindzen's schtick every time it pops up. He keeps saying the same stuff, so the rebuttals keep saying the same stuff, and at this point anyone interested in the schtick or the rebuttal has a panoply of sources close at hand. Nonetheless, Newsweek's egregious bad judgment means that millions of new people are being exposed to the schtick, so, therefore and forthwith: the rebuttal, again, from RealClimate. Spread it ... |
