| Brit popster Lily Allen has sung about 'riding through the city on [her] bike all day' at the Premises solar-powered recording studio. Now, she's added her backing to a campaign to reward homes that generate their own green energy. The amendment to an energy bill in Parliament this week introduces a 'feed-in tariff,' which would 'guarantee a minimum price for all renewable energy generated by homes and businesses through a system of long-term contracts with energy ... |

| Rather than take a transatlantic flight (the carbon footprint equivalent of driving for a whole year), Radiohead recorded a live performance in London for their 'appearance' on Late Night with Conan O'Brien last week. They played 'House of Cards,' a song with the refrain 'denial, denial' -- and dedicated it to 'that twat who walked away from the Kyoto agreement.' Heart! Here's the video: |

| In the midst of preparing for the launch of 250 hours of green programming for Discovery Planet Green, I got a call from my good friend Pete Griffin over at Think MTV. 'We have this idea to build a green house on the Real World,' he told me. 'Instead of creating a whole new green show, why not build it into one of the most watched programs on MTV?' Can anyone say brilliant? Well, we had a blast teaching the Hollywood cast a few things about saltwater poo ... |

Al Gore's got some big bucks Thoughts on the newly announced 'we' campaign |
Jon Rynn |
01 Apr 2008 |
Gristmill |
| So Al Gore announced a $300 million 3-year effort 'aimed at mobilizing Americans to push for aggressive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.' My question is, wouldn't it be better to spend that money on building grassroots organizations pushing for climate change legislation instead of spending it mostly, I presume, on advertising? If $100 million was spent each year on grassroots organizations in 30 major cities, that would work out to $3 million per each major metr ... |

"The simple algorithm is this: It's important to change the light bulbs, but it's much more important to change the laws," he said. "The options available to ... |

| Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke is once again leading Friends of the Earth's Big Ask Campaign. (Hey, he likes Big Ask and he cannot lie.) The campaign calls on 17 countries and the European Union to sign on to legally binding, yearly greenhouse-gas emissions targets. More specifically, FoE is asking the E.U. to adopt a target of at least 30 percent reductions by 2020 and 90 percent by 2050. And to stop making "big ass" jokes. |
