| So there's this insecticide called clothianidin that seems likely to be implicated in colony collapse disorder. By the EPA's own reckoning [PDF], clothianidin 'has the potential for toxic chronic exposure to honeybees, as well as other nontarget pollinators, through the translocation of clothianidin residues in nectar and pollen.' Over in Germany, the introduction of clothianidin coincided with a sudden bee die-off, so German authorities recently banned it. They reckon ... |

The Center for Biological Diversity, Greenpeace, and NRDC say the bears should be listed as endangered instead of threatened, and that the listing sho ... |

| Last year the Energy Independence and Security Act put into place mandates that will in all likelihood increase GHG emissions. The Lieberman-Warner act (critiqued by Sean here) could turn out to be just as ineffective. | The Natural Resources Defense Council evidently remains pretty sanguine about biofuels as a "solution to energy dependence and global warming."Over on the group's Switchboard blog, senior policy analyst Nathanael Greene recently took exception to some unkind words of mine on cellulosic ethanol. I responded in the comments section. I hope a robust debate follows. |
