Honey, I shrunk the GOP, Part 4 0
Posted 2 weeks, 5 days ago We’ve seen how GOP conservatives want to cleanse their party of moderates. Even Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.), among the 20 most conservative U.S. Senators in 2008, is being attacked for even daring to engage in bipartisan efforts to solve our climate and energy security problem. -

Oil companies, electric utilities and the coal industry have poured more than $250,000 this year into the coffers of the National Republican Congressional Committee, the party's House fundraising arm that has played a lead role in attacking Democrats who supported climate legislation.

GOP: Solar powered jobs can go to hell (or at least limbo) 2
Posted 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Republicans in the Arizona legislature took political grandstanding to new heights last week when they literally stopped time. Somehow, a solar bill escaped the time-space continuum vortex and landed on the governor's desk nonetheless.

The Con is On
The GOP’s Spanish prisoner/professor 0
Posted 4 months, 4 weeks agoIn prepping for today's House debate on Waxman-Markey, I watched David Mamet's mindbender, The Spanish Prisoner. The movie takes its title from a venerable long-con so complicated that -- I don't care how many times you've seen the film -- 20 minutes in and you'll have no idea who's zoomin' who. It's the perfect choice, because opponents of the climate bill have their very own Spaniard. And, just as in the film, this guy is no prisoner. He's part of the con.

Devoid of ideas on climate and clean energy
House GOP attacks big business, science, legislative process, and even Joe Barton! 0
Posted 6 months agoThe GOP members of the House Energy and Commerce committee, led by Joe Barton of Texas, are, ironically, bereft of any ideas on energy and commerce — and climate. And when a party has no ideas, their message implodes and they start a circular firing squad — in this case, attacking Barton.

GOP leader: the idea that CO2 is harmful to environment is “almost comical” 5
Posted 7 months ago
Here's Rep. John Boehner, the Republican leader in the House, talking to ABC's George Stephanopoulos today: "George, the idea that carbon dioxide is a carcinogen that is harmful to our environment is almost comical. Every time we exhale, we exhale carbon dioxide. Every cow in the world, you know, when they do what they do, you’ve got more carbon dioxide."
