You can't grt to a destination in time unless you take the correct track, and all the action in the world won't fix a problem is you don't know what the problem is.

This is the problem; the use of petroleum oil must be terminated... and ESPECIALLY synthetic oils must be banned.

This is a relatively easy task.  The internal combustion engine remains, the fuel is changed to a regeneratable fuel; the ultimate power source is electricity.
