I've been involved in "The Internet" for almost 12 years (maybe more) and I have yet to know what "Netroots" is! I hear this organization mentioned now and then, but as for me, it in no way shape or form represents me, my industry, my blogging, or my participation on the Web.

I especially don't see the point of something that supposedly represents some kind of free speech taking a political viewpoint to which I am opposed.

I represent the Naturogenic, Cornucopian weltanshaaung, each and every day. A bunch of people who would see us cowering in thatch huts is of zero relevence to what I believe.

Netroots

I wonder if the other Naturogenic, Cornucopean weltanshaaungers in jabailo's elite group also believe, as he apparently does, that free speech is not to be tolerated in anybody who holds political views that don't agree with his.

"Green New Deal"

sounds like a good phrase...maybe just "Green Deal", or "New Green Deal", don't want to overdo this, but such a New Deal might emphasize the idea of "full employment", that is, that everyone who wants a job should be able to get a job. This was an idea that seems to have been silenced by the Reagan Revolution, but it might be a good one to bring back, what with all the solar panels, wind turbines, and trains that we need to build.

The Green New Deal in Richmond California!
I'm an intern at SOLAR RICHMOND, a nonprofit organization in Richmond, California. We serve the community through solar installation training, educating a new green-collar workforce and opening new doors to employment.

Anyway, I think creating a "GREEN NEW DEAL" is a fantastic idea because it's helping the enviroment and making the world a better place. That's exactly what we at SOLAR RICHMOND are trying to do.

Visit our web site at http://www.SolarRichmond.org and make a donation or even become a supporting organization. In advance, thank you for your interest and support!

green economy and social justice
I think this article misses a big point of emphasis between Van and other eco-leaders... Van thinks the growing green economy can also grow social justice and change too. I'm surprised Van didn't speak to this in his Obama-related thoughts.

There was a Van Jones Interview on GreenExchange.com where he says:

"There are some brand-new entrepreneurs who are wanting to bake the idea of social uplift into their start-ups. They are more friendly and willing than most green companies that already exist."

The green collar job movement is about turning two problems into a win-win solution. But the social change is not a given -- we must work at it.
