No surprises.

American conservatives are almost alone in the world when it comes to being in denial about either a) the existence of global warming, or b)humanity's role in global warming. It is more than denial. It is a fundamental requirement for you to be a politically correct conservative. It is part of their identity. They are not going to change.

What we need is an analysis (David?)of just what makes conservatives click, on this issue. I haven't been able to figure it out.

Finally, I don't know anyone who really expects much in the next 2 years. We will be living with zombies and the undead until then. 1-20-09 keep the dream alive.

"No no no no"

How is it that this anti-American, libertarianoid obstructionism does not get played out as treasonous? Is it really the case that the radical partisan finger-in-the-ear attitude that the arch-Republican Grover Norquist recommends is acceptable to most Americans as part of the way our government is supposed to work?

As painful as it is to imagine, I would gladly watch Grover do an evening of belly-dance performance, if that were the price to pay to keep the GOP out of any positions of influence for the next thirty years.

Chickens are our cousins!
So are other sensitive animals!
Enough is enough!
No more factory farms!

Business as usual

This is Grover's standard operating procedure when his party isn't in power. He has gone on record as arguing that bipartisanship is the equivalent of "rape." It really doesn't matter what the issue is, Grover maintains a take-no-prisoners approach. Note that Grover has worked hard to export his hyper-partisan approach to legislative politics at the state level.

What Plan?

Most of the Lib hot air about Global Warming comes down to poking at "Conservative" straw men. Have they yet to propose any real legislation to "combat warming".

Let me be clear: I am a Naturogenic Global Heater...however, I still think reducing pollution is a good thing. But are the Libs doing that? I don't see any groundbreaking legislation that would reduce any type of pollution.

HOWEVER, I do see the Bush administration putting tons of money into true alternative energy research such as fusion (ITER) and the hydrogen economy. Oh, and before you start downshouting about "all the energy it takes to make hydrogen" there's a lot of work being done on wind to hydrogen and solar to hydrogen.

I don't see anyone who could not applaud the Bush support for hydrogen especially when coupled to wind and solar generation. It can not only act as a battery for our electricity generation but run our cars.

What else do we need???
