Some less...

No developed country will consume less oil or emit less CO2 in 2007 than it did in 2006.
Oy, why'd I have to put this one in there? It's difficult to answer, and quite frankly requires more research than I'm willing to put in at this point. I suspect it's wrong. Aren't some of those Scandinavian countries using less oil these days? I'll pass this one off to my smart audience.

I'm fairly certain that several countries actually cut their CO2 emissions, even the United States reporetdly emitted a little less (though it's been specualted as just a burp due to higher fuel prices).

"edict" for Dave's Predict

Doing my part to give you an assist here, Dave:

Laurie David's Stop Global Warming "virtual march" will reach 1 million signatories.
Nope, at least not yet. At press time, the number is 952,213.

Surprisingly, I don't think that I knew about this particular petition. In any case, I have moved you 47,786 people closer to a "Woo Hoo!" on that prediction.

Overburdened

I get an F.

I thought the people of West Virginia might see through the propaganda, vote out their friends of coal politicians, finally freak out in unison about their health, safety, and terrible labor situation, and come up with something to de-parasite themselves once and for all. Oh, I also thought the ecological devastation there would warrant some slick media coverage. I tried to give Anderson Cooper a head's up for "Planet in Peril" but I think his show was sponsored by the clean coal for america's future folks. Hilarious.

Maybe next year.

Did half OK on maritime ships

I don't make "shoot from the hip" predictions but in my studies about ship traffic in the US waters and ports I did passing well, maybe a B or B-.

The hefty decline of the dollar made imports more expensive, so bulk imports were flat except for containerized shipping, which is expanding but not as fast as the 5% predicted. Cruise ships are definitely up. Agricultural exports and petroleum tanker imports need some more research before I tell some white lies.

An issue with the new generation of cruise and container ships is that they're getting so freaking large, often exceeding 100,000 HP just for the propulsion engines. I have not found a correlation between larger ships and fewer ship trips, which is definitely a cause for concern.
Nailed it, top to bottom. Off to a good start!

Huh...Gore announced a sequel to Truth? When did that happen? Please provide a link if he did, I'd like to learn more!
