To fly boldly where no aussie has...
"Australian scientists landed on an ice runway in Antarctica on Friday, officially opening a new air link between Australia and the white continent."

"An Airbus A319 became the first passenger aircraft to land on the four kilometre-long Wilkins Runway [500-meter thick glacial ice!]"

"It's a remarkable engineering feat these people have achieved," Australian Environment Minister Peter Garrett said of the new runway after landing in midnight sunshine at minus 16 degrees Celsius conditions.

"It's a logistical triumph and connects the last two continents to be linked by air," he added."

Exponential meltdown

It maybe too late for coastal areas already, even 5 feet would be devestating.

It is really too bad that simple math, like exponential rates of change, are so difficult to understand.

10 to 20 years to 100% renewable energy and conservation and organic farming and ending human overpopulation trends would reverse the meltdown, but not without coastal catastrophe anymore. The trend to renewables could go exponential too, then it will be quite a race down to the wire.

Maybe the people who were not allowed to rebuild in New Orleans were lucky?

When will NYC start on the huge sea wall around it's islands? It better be soon. It won't be an overnight project.

"Faster Than Expected....."
It's a cliche.

Anybody that hasn't done so already google these fun strings:

Now just try and sleep a whole night after reading the header strings on those searches. I can't do it. Sweet dreams.
