Fighting coal in KS

I'm one of the environmentalists that has been fighting new coal plants in Kansas for the past few years. Believe me, Gov. Sebelius will never sign that bill put out by the coal lovin' legislators with dollar signs in their eyes.

She wasn't always that way. It took a lot of work by local volunteers and the Sierra Club to get her to come around. Gov. Sebelius should veto the bill if passed. Email Gov. Sebelius and tell her to stand up for clean energy and the future of living things around the globe. And don't be surprised to see her in the next Democratic administration with Obama or Clinton.

Well, on the plus side...

The bill also includes new energy conservation standards for public schools and state government buildings; a new energy task force; new rules to allow those with solar panels to sell excess power to utilities; and a ban on so-called "merchant" power plants that sell wholesale power to utilities.

Still, I'd be happier if the bill didn't pass and they throw those other provisions into another bill.

...So...what're the chances that this bill will pass? Anyone got concrete figures on the numbers of supporters/opponents?

Has the governor said whether (s)he will endorse it? I assume the governor would need to sign it to make it law (unless KS legislature has some type of override I don't know 'bout).
