Some like it raw, but watch the mercury
Sushi lovers should be concerned about mercury levels in fresh fish such as the yellowfin tuna mentioned above. The new http://www.gotmercury.mobi mercury-in-fish mercury calculator for cell phone browsers is a great tool for estimating mercury exposure based on your weight, fish choice and serving size. Swordfish and tuna should be avoided entirely by women who are pregnant, plan to get pregnant and by children, according to the U.S. FDA.
Better yet,
avoid eating ocean going fish. The consumption of wild caught animals is a major status symbol in China as well. This practice is devastating biodiversity all across the planet. Maybe we should let the last vestige of our hunter-gatherer past go extinct before another life form does?

In the end, it all comes down to biodiversity. Poison Darts--Protecting the biodiversity of our world

"sustainable"

There is no such thing as "sustainable" seafood. There are excellent recommendations from excellent students of marine-biota-collection agencies (e.g. fisheries). But we simply do not know enough about all that affects marine biota to be able to say anything reliable about their alleged "sustainability," beyond a few years in the future.

Chickens deserve our true friendship! So do fish! So do other sentient beings! Let us learn to be kind.
