Within the Slow Food article, right below the Save The Whales Ad, there is a statement about the only way to save the whales is to eat them. While I understand the logic of supply and demand, animals are not on this earth for our consumption. People need to realize this and change their attitudes and actions.

Hello?  There is nothing in the article about eating whales.  Slow Food promotes reviving heritage breeds of domestic livestock, ones that can be bred humanely and sustainably in natural conditions rather than crammed into buildings and feedlots at factory farms.  It's admirable that you have chosen vegetarianism, but you read the article wrong.

You're absolutely right Lauri, thanks for your comment.  "You have to eat them to save them. . . ." referred to endangered FOODS, not all mamals.  Panthers or gorrillas may be endangered but we certainly don't want to eat them!
