The bigger problem it seems to me is that mass transit is funded through gasoline taxes, which creates a rather obvious conflict. &nbsp;It's analagous to using cigarette taxes to fund anti-smoking campaigns. &nbsp;Well, I guess we do that too, but you get my point!</p>

Er...how fast do you think you were going, bub?</p><p>
Just because mass transit increases a bit, and gasoline consumption goes down doesn't mean there's an equivalence.</p><p>
Yes, I have read that some people, who have SUVs stopped driving them 60 miles into the city when they could take a bus.</p><p>
But many more miles are simply the result of consumers deciding not to "joyride" ... as in let's go to the mall, let's go to the corner store...</br></p>
