Recommendation for an actual gift registry
Traditionally one gets one registry tied to a large general/department store ... your amazon, sears, or walmart. If you have eclectic tastes or want very specific eco things from different vendors (Gaiam organic towels, Fire & Light recycled dishes, handmade bamboo serving spoons ... you LOHAS shoppers know who you are), I recommend Felicite, which acts as an intermediary registry, letting you list goods from a bunch of different merchants all in one place. I'm not affiliated with them, I just used them once and found the service to be good/useful/exactly as advertised. Best of all this way you can list specific charity donation "goods" in the same registry with more conventional goods. Very good.

wedding gift ideas

Co-op America's Green Pages are a great source of companies that offer sustainably produced goods. Also, Ten Thousand Villages offers beautiful Fair Trade items. Check to see if there is a store near you or your guests can buy many items on their web site.

If guests are flying/driving a good distance to the wedding, they can offset their added polution with green tags or donations to Native Energy or Carbon.org.
