Built in such a poor location, with so many inefficient turbines arranged in such an aesthetically poor way. Altamont kills thousands of raptors a year. This wind farm provides more ammo for wind farm opponents than any other.

Using the high end estimates of bird kill in the Altamont wind farm each turbine kills less than one bird per year.  (Estimated ~4,700 kills and >5,000 turbines.)

Killing birds is not a good thing.  But we need to put this 'wind mills kill birds' thing into perspective.  

Millions of birds are killed each year by cars and trucks.

Millions of birds are killed each year by flying into windows.  At least three have died at my house this year.  

That's how many actually bodies that I've found.  I'm not counting the odd piles of feathers that I suspect came from window-kills which were eaten by foxes, etc. overnight.

Some environmentalists. Do you mean to tell me there is no public transportation between the Bay Area and Vegas? I know you can take the BART to Richmond and then board the comfortable AMTRAK Joaquin to Bakersfield then transfer to a bus to Las Vegas. Total travel time: 11 hours 40 minutes.

Come on, think outside of the steel wheelchair.
