The key point here is not that oil companies had undue influence on Cheney's energy plan.  The resulting product is ample evidence of that.

The key point of this new development is that they know that the joint effort was not in the best interests of the American people.

You don't say you weren't there unless you know it was the scene of a crime.

that Americans allowed Congress to impeach Clinton over a lie about a personal matter.  This administration lied about going to war, and now these scumbags lie about energy policy, which affects all of us and the environment, too.

If Clinton could be impeached for his lie, everyone in the Bush administration who was part of promoting the WMD lie, and the oil execs who lied to Congress about whether they were on the task force, should all be imprisoned.  However, neither of these things is likely to happen, showing that the American people have very screwed up priorities.
