Solar Only Recently Viable

The thing is solar, for example, has only recently become viable as efficiencies have soared (due to breakthroughs in nanotechnology -- the sort of research funded by Bush).

Alternatives for most of the 20th century were based on cells that had something like 6 percent efficiency. Wasteful government spending on such a technology would have been bad.

And, of course, now that we're reaching 40 percent and beyond, the private sector is better positioned to sell them and make a profit.

McCain voted against renewable energy

McCain can say he favors renewable energy but he won't do anything to encourage it. He's against subsidies -- such as extending the tax credits for wind and solar -- believing the market will take care of it. And he opposes setting a standard for utility companies to switch over from fossil fuels. Obama is so much better on global warming issues it's ridiculous. I've outlined 10 reasons why on my blog.

McCain's Energy Record
With the level of direct lying that has become status quo in the Republican party in the last eight years, I should be immune. But McCain and Palin never cease to amaze.

For some TRUE facts (yes, really) on McCain's voting record on war energy and climate bills, try the Vote Tracker tool at http://www.oilchangeusa.org (http://oilmoney.priceofoil.org/voteTables.php). You can also see how much money he's taken from the oil industry--needless to say, there's a correlation. You should also check out the Presidential Oil Money tool, because I think there might be a glitch in the Vote Tracker tool that shows McCain as accepting less money than he actually has.

Down with truthiness!

McCain vs. Tricky Dicky

It is a pretty sorry state of affairs when the current crop of politicians, particularly Republicans, are so bad on the environment and social equity that they make me yearn for Nixon. Ouch! It hurts to say that.
