I recall the time I returned to Indiana after a twenty five year absence and found a box turtle in the small city park where I grew up. The discovery brought tears to my eyes. Just knowing that they still existed meant that much to me.

In the end, it all comes down to biodiversity. Help acquire and protect ecological hotspots, give to a conservation organization: http://www.saveourbiodiversity.com

John was a great guy, an indefatigable conservationist, and a role model for those hoping to save the biodiversity of the planet.

Thank you for this great story about someone I admired and really liked.  He was a force to be reckoned with in Madagascar. Absolutely fearless about saying what he believed.
