And yet, the Reuters and AP accounts manage to link that now-ancient university-lab-focused klutzily-tossed bomb to the recent Seattle fire.  How, though, realistically?

There aren't any! Zip! Zero! Can the ELF point to one development prevented, one road blocked, or one bio-region saved by their activities? No they can't. Reason? Because the ELF is not about saving the earth, it is about fulfilling their own crazed delusions about themselves. There are two types of people you meet in social change movements. Some want to change the world. The others are interested in therapy.

So far all ELF has done is get a bunch of its members thrown in prison. Perhaps in their next communique they can describe all the good work they are doing for the earth within the confines of a six by nine cell. It should be a fascinating piece.

Spiking trees has prevented some logging.  While it only stands to reason that trees don't like being spiked -- it's pretty hard for an animal to know what a plant thinks -- spiking trees is nothing compared to killing them and causes no significant harm.  And remember, killing trees also destroys habitat, so it goes beyond the trees.

Canis, your post is a good starting place for an comical animated version of the event.  Genetic engineering is totally evil and should be stopped by any means necessary, but it doesn't seem that this type of action is effective in any way.  Does feel good, though.
