Cambrain Coal:

Cambrain coal was just caught and fined for two illegal mountain top removals. It just goes to show that they do not pay any attention to the regs on the books now.

This is the coal company that did a Moutain Top Removal and Hollow fill on John Bevins Branch in Pike Co. Ky. The stream is just a shadow of its former self. Water flow is now almost non-existent.

Elkhorn Coal Corporation was also caught this summer with two illegal hollow fills on the Army Corps of Engineer's flood control project, "Fishtrap Dam" also in Pike Co. Ky. The Corp said they did not know about the MTR's until the mining company turned themselves in. They even do MTR's on Federal Controlled Projects that have to sign off on the water quality.

I can't imagine how they will act under weaker regulations than they have now. I believe we will suffer a lot more devistation before this last round of Midnight regulations can be overturned.

The eons of time and nature was good to us down here. It was not until we become civilized that destroying our habitat become fathomable or fashionable.
