One, Two, Three

Only in Greenspeak are brands like McDonald's and Coke, which have lasted decades and continue to win new consumers, not considered "sustainable".

Sure, cram some BranBurgers, subsidized by Global Taxes, and Fructosoda, down their throats and see how "sustainable" it would be (check out teen beatings videos on YouTube to get some idea).

In some sense, the Green Movement is like the old U.S.S.R. -- you keep saying you will "bury" the current consumer world, but you have yet to get anything going.

Possibly the best Alternative Energy blog I read: New Energy and Fuel

McDeath and Killer King and Cocain coke

McDeath and Killer King, have more marketing money to attract kids. Infact in recent months, McDeath campaigns have taken a "green" theme. And it is truly disappointing that people look at these commercials and think that McDeath is now healthy! - Believe me eating a few slices of apples dripping with sugary corn syrup, is not healthy!

Also, - for sh!ts and giggle, watch any popular tv between the times of 3 to 9, and see how many junk food companies are pushing this horrible "food" look like!

Even if Americans kids stop/decreased eating junk "food", there are so many new markets that will keep these companies in business - India, China. etc..

Chips, everywhere.
It's so true. I guest taught at my friend's after school program the other day. The kids in the class were well-educated, wealthy, and no stranger to the words "free range" and "organic." Still, their choice of after school snack was atrocious. Cheetos, Coke, candy bars - the junk food works. The scariest part was - I rarely eat any of those foods, but after being around so much of it, I was really tempted.

Sleeping with the enemy

It would help if the American Dietetic Association didn't add ADA as a partner. How can we move past our kids drinking 10 teaspoons of sugar from every can of soda when organizations such as ADA join forces with them!

From the ADA press release:

CHICAGO -- The American Dietetic Association, the nation's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, announced March 1 that The Coca-Cola Company has become an ADA Partner in the Association's corporate relations sponsorship program. The program provides Partners a national platform via ADA events and programs with prominent access to key influencers, thought leaders and decision makers in the food and nutrition marketplace.

It tastes good!

Why do kids eat junk food? 1. It tastes good. 2. It's cheap. 3. It's quick and easy. The vast majority of the food I eat is local/organic/free-range, but every few months, I eat fast food and it's delicious! Here in CT, there's not an alternative, green fast food restaurant. As much as I love slow food, sometimes I just want something tasty and cheap quick!
