Is there a Congress?
Or do they just go to the big room, rubber stamp Bush's proposals and collect thier paycheck?

The easiest thing they could have done is fund residential and small business geo-exchange/geothermal installations. How the hell is Bush supposed to veto an energy saving measure he has in the Crawford bunker, er, house? No dice.

The next thing they could have done is hold up his precious war funding or attach it to clean-energy funding. We didn't invade Iraq for "democracy" and it wasn't because we needed more sand. Not a chance.

America sucks. We're collectively incompetent.

More Harm Than....Ever?

Leaving this man in office for the remainder of his term would, unbelievably, do more harm than much of his term in office. The EPA is refusing to do it's job, funding via HR5351 is being nothing less than attacked.... I think the "Change" we are clamoring for needs to start a little sooner than inauguration day, Really.

Grist is Stupid

What Bush said: He'd fund renewable and alternative energy.

What Bush did: His very smart science advisors took a look at the portfolio, saw that solar, wind, and biotechnology were already mature and being funded by the private section. The technologies that needed a "boost" were the newer hydrogen, nano and fuel cell chemistries. He funded that.

What Grist said: But, wait, could you repeat that? Why didn't he fund biofuel?

What the public said: Duh.

Uh, no, again...

What Bush said: He'd fund renewable and alternative energy.

And yet, he opposed the renewable energy standards for utilities and encouraged the opposition of the California emissions waiver from the EPA, all the while still backing tax incentives for oil and coal companies, who are much more mature and have much larger industries than any or the renewables.

If ya count ethanol as a renewable and alternative energy (which it technically can be), then I suppose he did help in funding that...but ethanol will not solve any problems as far as energy independance, security, or environmental stewardship goes.

She Said, I Know What It's Like To Be Funded.

Opposing regulations and funding alternatives are not the same thing.

That in a nutshell is the fundamental difference between the Con and Lib approach.

I can fund something in the hope that it make become a breakthrough and save us, but at the same time saying, let's be real. Until that day, we need oil.

The Lib approach says, let's put draconian burdens on the current system to force it to change.

Take youre medicine...I took mine.

It is when the regulations actually include funding.
