				<p><strong>room for improvement</strong></p><p>I'm a daily bike commuter in SF and I agree that compared to other places things are pretty good here. I still think there is a lot of room for improvement though. I read the article in NYT on Portland and was struck by one difference - which was that the City was actively promoting bike-related businesses - as far as I know SF is doing nothing along those lines. </p>

We need it here in the Puget Sound. &nbsp; There have been three incidents just this month of car/bike collisions, one involving a motorist who chased down a biker with his car.<p>
As a member of KBAB, <a href="http://www.ci.kent.wa.us/transportation/bicycle/," rel="nofollow">http://www.ci.kent.wa.us/transportation/bicycle/, I have been pushing to make our streets safer for bicycles.<p>
But yes, we need a "culture" of Bicycles, and by that I mean a gang large enough to present its rights and needs to the Powers-That-Be.
