Another interesting part of this grid super-organism could be a very localized monitoring.<p>
For example, imagine if you could pull up Google Maps and pinpoint via color who the energy hogs (per unit area) on your block are! &nbsp; &nbsp;As in the case of the guy who doesn't mow his lawn, irate neighbors could bang on the door of the neer-do-wells and insist that they tune down their CO2 "just like the rest of us!"<p>
And what about some Edward Tufte style graphics that could be used to show whether or not Leonardo di Caprio is using energy beneath, or above, his contributions to humanity.

I disagree with your last statement however. &nbsp;Resources on a deregulated grid can be allocated decently if 1) prices are regulated some and 2) the public makes informed decisions.</p>
