Mayor Rocky Anderson of Salt Lake City

It is so satisfying to learn that we have such gifted, selfless public employees! This is the kind of leadership we should have at the Federal level, instead of the incompetent nincompoop who vacantly occupies the head chair these days.

I feel so unempowered these days, having to put up with no Federal leadership on the most important occurrence that this nation has ever had to face. At least, with the example set for us by Mayor Anderson, we are inspired and further motivated to engage in "push-type" legislation, city to state to Federal, for action. Now, if only we could use that route to replace RIGHT NOW the Fed administrator.

Rocky Anderson

Mr Anderson demonstrates what can be accomplished with a firm commitment to the energy/environment equation. Cudos!

In response to Dorh83, don't be disheartened or 'feel unempowered'. Federal leadership can't hold a candle to what each of us, as individuals, can accomplish by choosing to do what we can. Change your lightbulbs, drive less, install solar thermal and electric systems, grid tie and co-generate, then tell everyone you meet how well it works. Sell it!

If each household in the U.S. changed lightbulbs, we could reduce the CO2 output of the country by something like 912,835,800 TONS of CO2 per year. Individuals can get it done.

Rocky Anderson is embarrassing Salt Lake City
Rocky Anderson is embarrassing Salt Lake City

Coming under increasing criticism for his behavior, Anderson's actions have been labeled by some -- both inside and outside the media -- as "embarrassing" and "inappropriate." In response to the labels, Anderson has retaliated at every opportunity with rhetoric about how he's simply being patriotic, how he's concerned that the country is in the middle of the "worst constitutional and moral crisis we have ever faced" and how we ought to discuss the issues on their merits and not on the basis of "personal attacks." Yet, demonstrating how far out of touch he is, Anderson's comments about "personal attacks" come on the heels of countless protests at which he has screamed at the top of his lungs that the president of the United States is a "liar" and worse things.

The low point of the mayor's behavior probably came during his appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor" when he got into a five-minute mudslinging grudge match with Bill O'Reilly and came off looking like an incompetent buffoon -- not that O'Reilly came off any better, but people expect that from him and at least he's not the face of a city.
