Overall impression of Obama's green team.

They seem to be a bunch of solid B students. None of them are on the cutting edge of environmental thinking. None of them are risk takers or trail blazers. Instead they are competent functionaries. They also benefit from lowered expectations on the part of an environmental movement that has been traumatized by eight years of hacks, ideolouges, and former industry lobbyists setting policy.

Come to think of it, I am glad that the best and brightest of the environmental movement have not been tapped. We will need the talent out in the hinterlands as we both support and oppose the initiatives of the new administration.

So I am not hyperventilating about any of the choices. We have to keep the initiatives coming from the grassroots, from local governments and NGOs. As Obama himself said, that is where change comes from.

Randy,

I confess I don't understand the tendency to look down on bureaucratic competence. Sure there are lots of people out there who are more brilliant, who speak and write better, who are more inspiring or innovative in policy development.

But these people are being tapped to run large organizations, and all the brilliance in the world won't get you bupkis unless you know how to get sh*t done. This is what screwed up Clinton's transition -- he got a bunch of bright A students who proceeded to botch the workaday process of putting together and shepherding legislation. Obama is opting instead for experienced managers.

Competence is change we can believe in.

I think this may have to do with Salazar’s past dealings in the water arena. He was a facilitator in settling a few water disputes and kept the way of life people were used to in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, an agricultural sink hole with little other industry than ranching and farming-and vineyards.
He dealt with negatitation with the Utes. But he was really interested in seeing ranching kept alive here.

I can see why he was appointed, he will get many things passed. He will pacify many. He has dealt with tribal issues. But the expense is ours, and it is sickening when you look at the other possible appointee, Grijalva. Way to settle Obama, and placate the republican masses.
( online marketing degrees , online journalism degree and online sociology degree )

Sen. Ken Salazar appears to have an appropriate track record when it comes to tackling major enviromental issues like building energy resources and empowering national parks. He can't be relied completely on other concerns on water, etc. due to his voting against them. But i would still support him due to his strong stand on matters of critical importance that need immediate attention. chapter 13 bankruptcy attorneys houston

Now a days the environment safety is very important & crucial problem. Where the temperature of globe continuously increases, and hence the Antarctica ice are continuously converted into water. If the rate of increasing of temperature is remain same then there is no option remain to survive the life for all of species.
