We can extoll all of the virtues of carbon-free power from nukes, but the bottom line is this: Where are we going to store tons and tons of radioactive waste for hudreds of thousands of years, so it won't contaiminate groundwater, the food chain, be stolen and used for dirty bombs or other WMD-type uses??? Yucca Mountain was not a perfect solution. Would it be bertter to have tons of radioactive waste stored in a centralized location or at 103 nuclear power plants all over the US? From a security risk and human health perspective, neither is a very promising solution for thousands of years!
