Calling All Working Assets Customers

Grist made the list -- now we need your votes

Dearest Working Assets customers: did you know your conscientious phone and credit card spending can support your conscientious web habits? Grist is on the list of groups Working Assets donates to, and we need your help making the moola materialize. Please assign points to Grist on the company's voting page (we're in the Education & Freedom of Expression section). The percentage of votes we get determines the chunk of change we get at the end of the year, so we need your support. To help us track our progress, please send a note to when you've voted. Many thanks!

Working Assets -- Hypocrisy at its finest

Working Assets is currently partnering with Bank of America to provide credit card services.

Bank of America is heavily invested in coal and funding the destruction of the Appalachian Mountains through mountaintop removal coal mining and the acceleration of the climate crisis.

Bank of America has been the recent target of Rainforest Action Network and Rising Tide direct actions.

Companies such as Massey Energy, Peabody Coal, and Arch Coal just don't seem all that Gristy to me, no matter how green the cash may look.

Working Asset just sent out an email today on their "crucial issues needing action immediately" email list asking for people to sign a petition directed towards Apple because they were all indignant because their cell service doesn't run on iPhone.

Somehow, with all the really critical issues needing urgent attention, whether or not Apple wants to work with a single provider for their latest piece of toxic yuppie junk, doesn't seem all that important.

I really enjoy Grist but come on, please don't prostitute yourselves for this 'for profit' company.
