Thinking It Over

McKibben swayed by the reapers' grim view

Environmental author Bill McKibben got sucked in by the reapers yesterday. Michael Shellenberger and Ted Nordhaus, the laptop-toting, stylishly attired authors of the much-talked-about "Death of Environmentalism" essay, didn't blend in with the crunchy crowd at a climate-change powwow at Middlebury College in Vermont yesterday, but they won folks over with a persuasive presentation on the movement's ailing health. In a dispatch from the scene, McKibben ponders how bad the situation really is, and feels slightly cheery about it -- today on the Grist Magazine website.
