Biscuit Gets No Gravy

Biscuit Fire Salvage-Logging Plan Knocked by EPA

A U.S. Forest Service proposal to conduct the biggest federal salvage-logging operation in decades -- half a billion board feet of lumber from Oregon's Siskiyou National Forest, ravaged in 2002 by the Biscuit fire -- has met with resistance from, of all places, the U.S. EPA, which says the operation would cause serious environmental damage and violate the Clean Water Act.
