Even Stevens?

Sen. Ted Stevens officially loses reelection bid

Posted at 6:32 PM on 18 Nov 2008

Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican in the Senate and a recently convicted felon, has officially lost his reelection bid to Democrat Mark Begich. Stevens has long been a thorn in the side to environmentalists, most notably for leading the charge to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Good Riddance To Bad Garbage

Unfortunately, Mark Begich is just another typical Alaskan anti-environmentalist who whores for the oil industry and wants to drill in ANWR.  I can't imagine replacing Stevens not being at least some improvement, but I wouldn't count on much.

Begich is better than you think

Mark is all for drilling in ANWR (much to my dismay)but it is because that is what the people of Alaska want not because he's a whore for the oil industry.  If someone could convince people up here that it is a bad idea (and don't forget you'd be trying to convince people that were brought up here by either the military or the oil companies, because that's the majority of our population) if you could somehow change their minds I'm sure Mark would stop supporting it. However Mark also supports alternative energy up here which is more than I can say about any of our other idiotic politicians.  In the meantime you can do what I do and follow him on Twitter and send him a direct message with a link to any mention that Grist makes about what a bad idea drilling in ANWR is.

Definition of a whore...

but it is because that is what the people of Alaska want not because he's a whore for the oil industry.

Actually, it's both.

The reson why he is a convicted felon is 'cause he was a whore to the oil industry.

He accepted "gifts" from them, and in exchange gave political favors.

Hence, a whore.

Tasermons-Did you even read my post?

You quoted my post and refrenced Ted when I was clearly talking about Mark Begich. WTF? Everyone knows Stevens is owned by the oil companies, that's why he was found guilty. My point was that representing the people who elect him doesn't make Mark a whore for the oil industry, and I think you can expect good things from him.

Making a comparison...

...sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear.

I was (trying) to state that Stevens was a whore for the oil companies because he accepted gifts from the industry, and gave political favors in return.

And (though no felony convictions have arised in his case), it's almost certain that Mark has done the same (though I do admit I like him much more than I did Ted).

Hence, he is whore (they both are).

Yes, the people/public back 'em, but even though they do, they still shouldn't take favors.
