But They're Still Not Hoppy

Amphibian dieoffs not caused by climate change, says study

Posted at 4:47 PM on 25 Mar 2008

Frog.
A mysterious dieoff of amphibian species is likely not being caused by global warming, as had been hypothesized, says new research. Not in doubt: Amphibians are being afflicted by the rapidly spreading chytrid fungus, and humans are in some way responsible.

They are so cute!

Those four frogs in the illustration in the NY Times are adorable!

It is one of the great sorrows of our civilization that the role of global warming in the amphibian extinctions is inevitably so politicized.  The older hypothesis, that the spread and virulence of the chytrid fungus are related to global warming, will now look like part of the scientists' alleged conspiracy to "overpresent" the dangers associated with global warming.  But in response, do we really need to resort to that incendiary image by the Australian scientist, at the end, about pouring gasoline in a house and dropping a lit match?

6 Billion Served

Whenever you AGWers crow about how bad things are, you find some other species, class or phylum to wail about.

Yet, you completely ignore the enormous success of Global Warming when measured by the large numbers of humans that it supports.

Since 1820, the human population has expanded fivefold.

The increased warmth has decreased disease.

There are better crop yields.

Energy needs are lessened.

Overall Global Warming is a stunning success.

I say, if the Earth ain't broke, don't fix it.

Epitome Of Immorality

John Bailo's comments are a perfect example of the immoral attitudes of anti-environmentalists, the main one of which is that nothing matters but humans.

Humans were already grossly overpopulated by 1820, so increased population and crop yields were not a good thing.  The population increase that occurred from that time has been an absolute disaster for the entire rest of the planet, and hasn't really been good for most humans either.

And BTW, the claim about energy use is patently false.  Global warming will cause more use of air conditioning, which will not only increase energy use but will also add pollutants to the air and atmosphere.

Say Wha-?...

Energy needs are lessened.

Where in the heck did ya get that idea?

Good news

Glad to hear that AGW is not responsible for every malady on the planet. It gives reason for hope that we can fix some of the problems without having to beat the deniers over the head to do it.

Now if someone will please answer the honey bee problem.
