Malthusian Analysis Not Sufficient

While the Earth and its resources are obviously finite, this way of looking at overpopulation is generally immoral.  The question under a Malthusian analysis is how much humans can destroy the Earth without destroying themselves.  This is not a question any environmentalist should be asking.  Instead, the question should be how many people can exist while still allowing all other species to live wild in adequate numbers and while allowing enough wilderness to keep the Earth and its ecosystems healthy.
