Greenpeace and others protest Heathrow Airport expansion

Greenpeace and other eco-activists have been protesting mightily against a planned third runway for London's Heathrow Airport, which would demolish the nearby town of Sipson and, say activists, be completely counter to Britain's ambitious carbon-cutting goals. The airport-expansion plan has brought significant opposition from both politicians and residents; the British government has yet to make a final decision, but opponents fear it's a foregone conclusion.

Of Course It's A Foregone Conclusion

Governments prioritize money, business, and power. Even those that have recognized the dangers of global climate change or other environmental and ecological disasters caused by humans basically limit environmental actions to lip service and certainly don't give them the priority they deserve and need.

What we can do as individuals, aside from changing our governments, is limit motorized travel as much as possible. Don't fly unless you really NEED to!

Brimming over with wrongability

If there is a need for another runway, anywhere, then there is a need for business to revamp and take advantage of the technology available to video conference and otherwise telecommute rather than sending people on carbon monster planes. Additionally, the cost of flying needs to be raised to reflect the carbon cost per person. We have the technology to not only make flights less necessary but far more efficient than they are. By attaching cost per seat to carbon the industry would scramble to implement these technologies.
Industries such as these should be supporting HR5351 which will provide the funding incentives for this new technology.
