Scientists write to Bush and Pelosi asking for biofuel-policy reform

Posted at 12:35 PM on 08 Feb 2008

In light of recent studies showing that biofuel production ain't good for the environment, 10 prominent ecologists and biologists have written to President Bush and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asking that the U.S. reform its biofuel-boosting policies. Seeing as the Bush administration has a track record of being very responsive to scientists' entreaties, we have no doubt that the massive subsidies to biofuels will cease immediately.

Biofuels Have Become Big Business

Especially ethanol, which is agribusiness.  These people have tons of money and use it for major political influence.  Now that the masses have been bamboozled into thinking that ethanol and other biofuels will save us, it's going to take a Herculean effort to reverse this trend.  Federal law already mandates huge amounts of ethanol in gasoline.

Good for them!

How about a new "Einstein letter" on energy policy and gHG climate change,  named after the a-bomb wakeup call letter from Einstein to FDR.

But don't bother sending it to duuhbya.  Send it to the new prez, all three frontrunning candidates, let them address it in the campaign.  Maybe bloogers better write it?

Anyone have the actual text of the letter?

Text of the Einstein Letter...
