California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger officially endorsed fellow Republican John McCain today in the presidential race. The announcement, held at a solar-energy company in California, is expected to aid McCain's campaign in the same way an earlier endorsement from green-leaning Florida Gov. Charlie Crist seemed to have played a role in McCain's win in that state earlier this week. Schwarzenegger cited McCain's green credentials in his endorsement, saying, "[H]e's a crusader, and has a great vision, in protecting the environment and also protecting, simultaneously, the economy." Not missing an opportunity to appeal to voters, McCain said at the event, "Governor Schwarzenegger, I commit to you, you and I and all of the others who are concerned about our globe, not just our states ... [will] hand our children a cleaner planet."

What is Hillabama's "Green Record"?

Hey, great, the Grist Ecologists finally admit that the Schwartz and McCain -- Republicans with a capital "R" -- can be Green.  In fact, even Bush is very Green and has been funding projects like fuel cells and bio-generated ethanol from the get go.

But what about Hillabama?   I mean, it's just assumed that they are so Green because why?   I mean compare all that McCain, Arnold and GW have done to Hillabama and I think you'll see Republicans are far more Green than you think...

What A Joke!

McCain and Schwarzenegger both have very anti-environmental records in office.  Schwarzenegger constantly grandstands on environmental issues because he feels he needs to for political reasons, but his actions in office have been just the opposite (I've never seen any Republican politician, aside from a few on the northern east coast, who has a good environmental record while in office).  And John McCain's environmental record while in Congress is atrocious.

Like with everyone, but especially politicians, watch what they DO not what they say.
