Independent scientists will review federal spotted-owl recovery plan

Posted at 4:52 PM on 18 Dec 2007

Under fire for allowing politics to interfere with prudent decision-making about a recovery plan for the Northwest's iconic spotted owl, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is undertaking a "good-faith effort" to have independent scientists review the plan, which in its current form would increase logging in owl habitat. A USFWS spokesperson adds that the review "will be open and transparent." As opposed to, you know, the usual.

Minuscule Chance Of An Honest Review

With the current anti-environmental, power- and money hungry administration (relatively, they all fit that description), it's delusional to think that they would allow an honest review, which cannot come to any other conclusion than one saying that allowing more logging in spotted owl habitat will harm the owls, to be made public.  It will either be changed or redacted by order of someone high in the administration in order to make more money for the merchants of death in the logging industry.
