Temperature and CO2 are coupled
The ice cores show that in prehistory temperatures often began rising 800 years before levels of CO2. However in actuality, temperature and C02 are bound together - when either one goes up, the other will follow. Today's situation is very different than prehistory, because for the first time ever enormous amounts of extra C02 are being released and of course, the observed global temperature is increasing right behind it.
