Just wanted to point people to a paper Amory wrote awhile ago that goes to the point of why people overlook these efficiency possibilities. While a lot of the examples are not yet scalable or are outdated, I think it provides a great framework for the problem.

On another note, I think that this problem will only be solved when you have entrepreneurs who are taking advantage of these arbitrage opportunities. In other words, turn the energy saved into a commodity and have it be bought and sold. That takes it largely out of the hands of the (inefficient) consumer and into the hands of a sophisticated (efficient) financial market.On It's all about inequality posted 2 years, 10 months ago 18 Responses
