Nail polish, the old fashioned way
Long ago, nail "polishing" was accomplished much the same way silver was polished, with a sweet-smelling, non-toxic polishing compound, a buffer, and a little elbow grease. The result was (or is, for some of us) little or no color but beautifully shiny nails and avoidance of all these nasty chemical issues. Green bathroom cleaners
This is an extremely useful article, and I wish (despite some of the comments' criticisms) that it were more widely distributed! Because of my now-dispelled ignorance, I have tended to avoid cleaning products altogether, and yes, my bathroom is a mess. Thanks very much, Sarah. On A test of eight green bathroom-cleaning products posted 1 year, 8 months ago 23 Responses
CAFE standards
Raising CAFE standards to 35 mpg by the end of the next decade is appallingly irresponsible. European and Japanese car buyers, today, can select from over 100 car models that routinely get well over the equivalent of 40 mpg. Congress should not be proud of this, even if the auto manufacturers allow this pathetic new standard to be enacted. Really, I expected much much more from the Democrats and am extremely disappointed. As things stand now, I do not anticipate voting at all in the next election.
