True, analyzing humor is pretty dry, and it is not that I don´t understand why Bulgaria is used.

It is just that Americans as well as many of us in Western Europe have a very odd view of Europe, and seam to believe that Europe ends by polands eastern border at best, but that is pushing it. And the knowledge of slavic nations and the attitudes towards them is always that of "guestworkers who clean asbestus of old houses".

  • Why Bulgaria

Important topic, but the prejudism shines through. "We are making a nation as corny as Bulgaria look good".

I did not quote the text, I more commented the essence of the use of Bulgaria in this example.

  • Gambling

The GM is acting like an addicted gambler.

Give me more money, I promise they will buy our next gasoline guzzling monster. Just give me one more chance, please.

And if the US would do this, it would be impossible to complain if Europe felt itself forced to subsidize Airbus

  • Monsanto still active

I have written about Monsantos attempts to affect the policy of some of northern europes largest food producers before.

    http://theorchidblog.blogspot.com/2006/06/monsanto-sweden ...

The CEO people in the boards of these companies recieved emails with offers. In Sweden Monsanto is also very much integrated with the agritechnical university SLU. It´s a "I scratch your back, you scratch min" relationship where SLU gets funding for testing Monsantos products, and Monsanto gets good PR by so called independent researchers from SLU standing up for Monsanto.

  • The Chineese is not to blame

Be carefull with pointing the fingers to much on the Chineese. Not to far from SF is LA and Hollywood where the greatest unfavour to sharks was dealt by Spielberg. Sharks decrease a lot due to bycatch in largescael tunafishing, as well as to disturbance from tourists and recreational boats in places sucha as the Keys with its reefs. That reef is a nationalpark. The reefs themsef get destroyed by the warming of the ocean which in the end hurts the sharks.

Basically, it´s not as easy as just blaming the Chinese for their diets. West should get rid of their sins first. On Some shark populations in Mediterranean have collapsed, study finds posted 1 year, 5 months ago 2 Responses
