Mind-boggling greenwashing is "at least as interesting" as the future job opportunities. An oil sands producer in Alberta is awarded a "Commendation for Climate Change Reporting"!  I know we have to start where we are, but if we're going to call black white and oil green, we might as well just all go out and drive off into the sunset in our Hummers. • A place to start

This 2004 article http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=56& ... addresses the issue.  I haven't searched recently for more current info, but it should be findable.  I have the same problem with trying to keep up with all the mergers and buys.  No more Tom's or Burt's.  It becomes more imperative to buy as much as possible from local vendors one can meet and know. • Before sunscreen

I'm not a scientific or cultural expert, but I know that before Coco Chanel and friends popularized tanning in the 1950's, it was considered to be a sign that you had to work outside, so anyone who could afford to do so covered up to avoid appearing to be a laborer.  Look at movies from the 40's--everyone on the streets is wearing hats and usually long sleeves.  Those poor folks who did get plenty of sun often did not live long enough to contract skin cancer--their hard lives led to other causes of illness and death. We have become slaves to an unhealthy fashion.  So skip the nano and SPF and cover up for safety and health.  I'm trying it more each year and it can be done--sometimes it's hot, but it's cheap and easy.On EWG takes a look at how sunscreens stack up posted 2 years, 5 months ago 8 Responses
