And drought 'down under'
This is a real issue for Australia too - we are expecting further drought and heat (as if we don't have enough already), and floods in the north.
A report released today recommends Australia proceed with urgent implementation of an Emissions Trading Scheme (the Garnaut report).

Why wait for others?
Your president's plan to wait for other nations to reduce emissions is a recipe for our collective destruction.
Even a small emitter such as Australia has a good argument for action even when other nations don't. The recent Garnaut report makes the case for action, including urgent implementation of an Emissions Trading Scheme.

Need to 'do the math'
It is interesting that there doesn't appear to be a definitive study showing the effect of biofuels on food prices. It obviously has an effect, but the argument is about how much.
Perhaps it can't be done with any certainty, or nobody has yet bothered (can't be too far away).
An interesting paper on this is at http://www.ifpri.org/pubs/bp/bp001.asp
