  • I'll still vote McCain over Hillary

This is a major dynamic - my fundamentalist, republican , military parents are now 100% behind Obama but they will not vote for Hillary if she's on the ticket.  End of story - 100's of 1000's or millions of other Reps feel the same - face it.

I came up with this independently of that, but as a 100% leftist enviro wacko I will still vote McCain over Hillary if Obama isn't on the ticket.  I'm am more sick & tired of the DYNASTY - this Anti-American, Anti-Democratci, Anti-Founding Fathers BS we are faced with:  the Hatfields / McCoys Dynasty Struggle (i.e. Bush or Clinton for he last 32 years and possibly 36 to 40 years).  This is far worse than ANOTHER dumbass fascist (McCain) running us into the ground for another 4 years.

None of your dream legislation (even Obamas') is going to do anything anyway for climate change when you don't forever end coal, go 100% toward renewable energy, phase out the oil, reign in the oil & war company profits, and combine it with so much other green & enviro legislation it would even make Nader & Kucinich spin.

And just quit talking about Nader - he shot himself in the foot, Gore through the heart, and America and the world through the head in 2000.   He put Bush in office and for what - to prove that Gore was the same as Bush- COME THE F$#@ ON!  He would've had SERIOUS footing in 2004 if he didn't run the FL election into the ground in 2000 and I will NEVER forgive him for it.  Especially in the face of Obama now...give the kid a break, he can at least give an hour speech without notes.  At least he's remotely inspiring and can begin working us back to a place where Nader, Kucinich, et al look reasonable instead of like goth kids at the prom. Slap yourself across the face Nader, and just keep pushing us domestically like you've done.  You're just not presidential material now.

I will vote for my opponent (McCain) before Dynasty (Hillary)...and I will encourage anyone I know to do the same.

  • Agreeing with...

...pinkyracer.  Apple, starting off as a 'hippie' computer company and some would say - snatching the conceptual NYC apple (as if they have any orchards left...) is now coming at NYC for a freaking image?  How soviet.

Why do you corps never cease to amaze us with your imaginary 'intellectual rights' as if you actually operate in a vacuum with your exclusive ideas, images, concepts and whatnot.  why don't you just copyright oxygen and sell it?

You're a computer manufacturer and if anything, the NYC infinity apple will only make people think of Mac's vs. PCs and if you're not happy with that then...well, you're right on up there with all the rest of the mega-corporations and their imaginary worlds they think they own.  Get over yourself - you're just a company and this is free advertizing, not a blow to your egg-shell egos. Oh - and thanks for reminding me how lame you can be Apple...I'll keep it in mind since so far, you seemed like a fairly cool company.  Bummer. • Thanks for the Wall Nafta

This is so medieval that it blows the modern mind.  So much immigration is now a result of the Clinton era NAFTA push-through:  US corps running to Mexico & central America, establishing, taking over millions of acres of land, wiping out the resource base then fleeing to China.

Result - the local population left landless and with nothing and worse than before NAFTA so what are they going do?  Go north.  Makes perfect sense and isn't in the least surprising.  Now we're going to spend a few billion on some retarded, out-dated, soviet / china style wall...COME ON!  Walls never, ever, ever work.  This is just so dumb that I can only hold my hand on my head and sigh.

(And Clinton was Jesus compared with Bush...but he didn't get a free pass from me just because he was Dem or at least not Republican).  Way to ruin our economies, cultures, and ecology guys!  On Eco-laws pushed aside for faster building of border fence posted 1 year, 7 months ago 9 Responses

  • They have to go...

I'm all about animal rights - we eat only meats (and very little) that I can hunt or fish locally (without even a gun)...and humanely.  We specifically do not support the meat industry.

But the animal rights crowd may as well protest predation-on-earth at large because such predators live by killing & eating other wildlife (hence, the evolution of all species). Your position is equally as ill-informed (though well intentioned).

The animal rights crowd would do well to back off the position of protecting & releasing exotic introduced wildlife - would you allow Hawaii and Guam (or other islands) to just be overun with introduced mongoose, snakes, pigs, and other predators we've introduced?  Had ecologists not been eliminating these introduced wildlife in key locations so many more species would now be extinct on those islands than already are...and we're talking species found only on the planet in those locations (global endemics).  Do you not really give a crap about the native species and habitats over introduced wildlife that are decimating them? Makes little sense.

This toad was introduced and is ruining the ecology of its new area now (among other introductions, Europeans included) and they simply must be eliminated.  Not to mention its poisonous - for native wildlife too, which is something the natives have evolved without for oh, millions of years.

You guys would do well to consult some professional ecologists & biologists vs. the constant knee-jerk reactions against killing introduced wildlife. It simply makes no sense...its as if you'de allow the rarest & most endemic plants, wildlife & habitats, and espeically migartory and other birds to be overun with frogs or cats or pigs just because they're living things.  It really goes totally against the very native wildlife, habitats, ecology, biodiviersty, and conservation efforts you possibly support as well.

For example - the PETA release of ferrets that were being held at a lab (forget where in the US) was a HUGE impact to local ecology - releasing this totally non-native, top-predator species with who-knows-what diseases out into the local enviroment to destroy native wildlifie & songbirds - 100% against what you're really trying to do (or does that not bother you?)

There is simply no other ecological choice for some species than ridding ourselves of them in the wrong habitats.  Its like keeping clorox and asprin together - they belong in totally diferent places!  And by the way, this isn't even a viable discussion in ecological circles...at least, not credible ecologists. No one is debating whether or not we get rid of exotic-invasive plants or wildlife - but how, where first, and how fast can we do it.  Otherwise - kiss your endemic & local biodiveristy hotspots goodbye - oh, and plants some kudzu on it when your done (since it has "1000 Uses"...)

I apologize for sounding brash, but I would love to see the animal rights groups channel their obviously good intentions into more productive protections for native wildlife (and those you wish to protect).  There has to be a way. Otherwise you end up looking like a bunch of ill-informed urbanites protecting feral cats (which I guess you do).

I'm up on your positions and I understand where it comes from - but its time for you guys to get real about ecology, biodiverstiy, and the incredible damage stemming from OUR introductions of wildlife in the absolutely worst places.  We could then make some progress. There's no reason I as a wacko, liberal, left wing environmental / ecological extremist should feel that the animal rights crowd is more extreme than me and completly un-informed about the true impacts of exotic wildlife...but thats how I feel and thats why I don't support PETA or the insane cat-protectors (Jesus - why don't we just feed all the migratory songbirds to them at once and get it over with!)
