  • LED's for Everyone!

OptiLED has a great selection of LED lamps (bulbs) that can be used in place of standard incandescent bulbs, compact fluorescents, and even MR16 Halogens - those nasty energy suckers that put out such nice light (often found in track lighting).

I recommend talking to the good people at SED Technologies who distribute OptiLED products in the Pacific North West.

  • Corn Plastic Golf Tees

The research that I have done regarding the biodegradable corn plastic golf tees is that like most corn plastic products out there, genetically modified corn is used in the manufacturing. This is the shadow side of what appears to be a very progressive industry - GMO companies use these non-food avenues (and therefore lesser protested uses) to take over farmer's fields with GM crops thus compromising our future food security. Its the same problem that one encounters with biodiesel made from virgin-oils.

GMO-free Corn Plastic is available but it has to be ordered from the manufacturer. Most products available through distributors has been made with GM corn. Obviously the ultimate answer is to get beyond the need for plastic packaging of any sort but that requires a series of steps and its warming to know we are on our way.On Umbra on greener golfing posted 3 years, 2 months ago 4 Responses

  • Green Golf

Thanks for the info on green golfing. www.greenerhomes.ca also has a take on greening golf courses but goes down a slightly different road - what if we replaced the worlds golf courses with green affordable housing developments?
