sometimes I need the quick answer!
I love Umbra's column and I'm sure if I knew her personally would love the person too, but sometimes her answers are so long and convoluted that they beg for an executive summary right up front. Sometimes I just need the "cut to the chase" answer, so I can move on to other important things of the day and carry her important and trust worthy advice with me to the super market, or wherever. Then if I want more details, I can return to the column at a later, less hurried time.
Sorry if this constructive criticism offends - certainly not my intent.

Hazelwood Joke
A little off the subject, but the mention of the Valdez and Cpt. Hazelwood reminded me of a joke I heard not too long after the tradgedy.
Of course Capt. Hazelwood could not get a job skippering after the Valdez event, so he got some job training through the State Employement office and landed a job at a Jiffy Lube doing automobile oil changes. But he was fired a couple weeks later because he kept forgetting to put the oil plug back in...
I know, very bad joke...:)On An unseasonably warm night and a doomed-to-melt dessert posted 2 years ago 11 Responses
Ron Paul
How come I kept hearing a coo coo clock sound when I was reading his interview? On An interview with Ron Paul about his presidential platform on energy and the environment posted 2 years, 1 month ago 55 Responses
Green sports stars
Jeez guys, at least four of the people you listed are in activities that aren't even "real" sports. Soccer (any activity that three year olds can do well and do as a team isn't a real sport), rock climbing (fun recreation, but definitely not a sport), skate boarding (ditto), pro-wrestling (c'mon guys, are you from Arkansas where they think pro-wrestling is real?). And I'm beginning to have my doubts about basketball - but that's more of an aversion to thugs kind of a thing. On 15 Green Sports Stars posted 2 years, 5 months ago 15 Responses
