Reconfirming My Veganism
It's odd that I would stumble on this site again... 11 months after my original post. Perhaps it's fate? I'm still vegan and am more an advocate for animals than ever. I've learned much more through research and study about the unending ways we brutalize the animals we profess that we are "humane" to. It is a myth... the meat industry and animal "food" culture have mastered the ruse - dare we cry that emperor is naked?

I don't believe that there is an "ethical" meat industry at all... not big or small - not those that murder thousands of animals a day or those that murder one a month.
Yes, I want to get at the specific practice that should be illegal - the growing/confining/transporting/slaughtering and butchering of sentient beings. Nothing justifies these practices. Man lives much better on a plant based diet - go Vegan. On Smithfield, Pilgrim's Pride, and other meat giants get credit-crunched posted 1 year ago 5 Responses
florida & Monsanto
Am here in Central Florida and have just seen a disturbing article in the lakeland ledger about the disappearing scrub jay - now it's the wetlands (again/still) - Floridians be warned.

Guilty - I swear by all that is sacred to me that until recently I never heard of "factory farming". Naive - yes.... I'm 50+ a vegetarian for 3 years, seems like even "old McDonald's" was unpleasant to me - just seemed wrong even with "humane" treatment - Factory Farms? a living hell. No meat, no milk - no problem....On Cruelty to hogs, and wretched meatpacking conditions posted 1 year, 10 months ago 12 Responses
factory farming
yes, it seems that everyone suffers - the animals, the workers, the consumers (and those of us vegan/vegetarians) who have to watch the whole (excuse my language) bloody thing.... Not sustainable - not acceptable...On Cruelty to hogs, and wretched meatpacking conditions posted 1 year, 10 months ago 12 Responses
