  • The salt thing had never occured to me

I almost always partially cook beans on their own first though before adding them to the rest of whatever I'm making, so it's never been an issue (the old bean thing has).  The only thing I ever soak over night is split green peans, but then I usually don't have enough to cook with as once they've swelled I eat them plain by the fist full.

  • I LOVE flat leaf parsley!

I use it in salads all the time as the main greens. But it can be so tough that I've found that if I mix it with the dresing about an hour before serving then add the rest of the ingredients at serving time it makes a wonderfully, refeshing starter. On Beans, beans, good for your recipe posted 2 years, 8 months ago 14 Responses

  • Births!

Bwahahahahaha!  Unless you count the birth of my nephews. On How to form a vegetarian dining co-op posted 2 years, 8 months ago 8 Responses

  • Cake and ginger

I did it with a ganache topping (not vegan), which was amazing!  The best of the variations so far I think was the gingerbread version, still using cherry juice, as I still had some in the fridge.

And speaking of ginger, there's a recipe on BBC food I wanted to try, if I can find stem ginger in syrup.  You might want to use that for a little inspiration (minus the "golden syrup" one hopes!)

  • That meal was great!

And strapping young lad says "greedy bastard" is a more accurate term for him :)

I've been making the vegan cake from your first post way too often too.  The baking soda/vinegar combo is fantastic for a quick cake and I've been substituting a variety of ingredients (tonight's had grated random apple that needed to be used up).  Co-op's red-head said her mom has a few egg-free cake recipes like that that were from rationing. On Yummy veggie curry posted 2 years, 10 months ago 10 Responses
